Senior Software Engineer – Test & Simulation Harness for Autonomous Systems

We are seeking a strong, hands-on Senior Software Engineer with architect-level capabilities to join our Harness team. This team develops the core infrastructure that executes, simulates, and tests our complex autonomous software systems.

This role combines system architecture with hands-on development of testing and simulation frameworks, alongside daily exposure to high-volume data generation and real-time data processing.

Role Overview

You will be responsible for the end-to-end design, development, and maintenance of our Harness infrastructure for testing, simulation, and integration of complex autonomous systems—including HIL/SIL environments, test automation, and real-time data and performance analytics tools.

This is a deeply engineering-focused, hands-on position: code, architecture, and tool building—beyond high-level planning.

Key Responsibilities

• Architecture & Infrastructure: Design and architect comprehensive testing and simulation environments for complex autonomous systems.

• Hands-On Development: Drive core software development, scripting, tooling, and automation—balancing technical strategy with code execution.

• Data Pipelines: Build robust pipelines for data collection, processing, storage, and analysis from heterogeneous sources %28sensors, telemetry logs, simulation runs%29.

• System Integration: Integrate hardware components, software modules, and physical sensors within test environments.

• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with Algorithm, Perception, and Control teams to ensure full test coverage and validation.

• CI/CD Leadership: Lead the technical implementation of CI/CD pipelines dedicated to automated simulation and regression testing.

• Performance Optimization: Resolve challenges related to high throughput, low latency, and efficient storage under high-volume data scales.

Must-Have Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on software development experience, operating at a Senior/Architect level.

• Proven experience in building and/or maintaining testing, simulation, or HIL/SIL infrastructure for complex systems.

• Demonstrated track record of working with large-scale data as a core duty %28data pipelines, logging systems, real-time or near-real-time data processing and analysis%29.

• Hands-on background with autonomous systems %28robotics, autonomous ground vehicles, UAVs/aviation systems, etc.%29.

Nice-to-Have Qualifications

• Experience with ROS / ROS2 and/or simulation platforms %28Gazebo, CARLA, AirSim%29.

• Hands-on familiarity with MCAP/rosbag, time-series databases, or streaming architectures %28Kafka/DDS%29.

• Background in Real-Time Systems / Embedded Development %28VxWorks, QNX, FreeRTOS%29.

• Understanding of MLOps concepts %28data management for model training%29.

• Familiarity with defense/aerospace standards %28DO-178C, MIL-STD-882, ISO 26262%29.
